Finns achieved independence on the 6th of December 1917, during the Russian Revolution. The centenary forms the opportunity for a party, as well as being an occasion for contemplation and insight – understanding the way the nation emerged, but also gazing ahead to see what Finland can still become.

The theme for the celebratory year is ‘Together’ – encouraging everyone to take part! Numerous events are taking place in the next few weeks including concerts, photo challenges, travelling saunas, ice hockey and more.
