If you happen to find yourself in Paris or New York this coming October, do pay a visit to the Mairie of the French city’s 1st Arrondissement, or New York’s Chetkin Gallery, to see the upcoming retrospective exhibition of the French artist Boissegur.
Boissegur, whose copyright is represented by Bridgeman, studied at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts and has exhibited internationally in major cities such as London, New York and Dubai. Even though her art has travelled around the world, Boissegur’s connection to her home country of France is unmistakable. A born and bred Parisian, the artist often finds inspiration in the city’s landmarks and buildings. When she’s not painting the skyline of the City of Love, Boissegur also paints sunlit beaches and countryside villages. Her paintings are influenced by the landscapes and light from the places she’s seen all around the world. Despite their vibrant colour palette, Boissegur’s paintings are characterised by a mysterious stillness. Often showing solitary people in an otherwise empty landscape or featuring ethereal floating balloons, Boissegur’s pictures have a surreal, dream-like quality.
Catch Boissegur’s retrospective “Reve ou Realite” (Dream or Reality) in Paris and New York between 3-10 October 2017. Admission to the exhibition is free.
