Leon Morrocco – Looking Out To Sea
John Martin Gallery, co presented with the Portland Gallery

Leon Morrocco’s fascination with coastal life set him on a year-long drawing journey, taking in the huts of the Kent coast, Antwerp’s barge repair yards, bathers and fish markets in Portugal and Italy, as well as the working routine of the Riviera’s night fishermen. As the final paintings neared completion in his studio, the exhibition took a new twist with a series of exuberant sea still lives made during lockdown and imagined as if seen from balconies looking down on the harbours and seascapes of his earlier travels.

MIKE BRISCOE (Solo Show)
Ffin Y Parc Gallery

”I have always had a strong attraction to coastal seaside images, having lived on the North Wales coast for most of my life it is of no surprise that seaside images have dominated the content of my work. I have often painted scenes from café interiors with the outside visible usually the sea in the distance, I am fascinated with the relationship between the outside and inside and the intangible experience it provides.”
