David Shillinglaw’s The Mechanics of Happiness

David Shillinglaw’s The Mechanics of Happiness

To coincide with World Mental Health Day on the 10th of October, CultureLabel presents a solo exhibition of work by acclaimed artist David Shillinglaw, in aid of Mind. The Mechanics of Happiness will feature his bright and emotive drawings, paintings, collages, prints and books.

Exhibition: 24-29th October 2017
The Palm Tree Gallery, 291 Portobello Road, London, W10 5TD

“The work for this series is inspired by the struggle to find balance and the quest for happiness. This is an issue I feel affects all of us every day as we attempt to create a peaceful and organised mind. It seems natural at this point to apply aspects of my practice to illustrating and raising awareness of both problems and solutions associated with mental health awareness. Art has the power to create a space to ask questions without necessarily demanding answers. I am excited at the prospect of my artwork being associated with Mind and the work they are doing to support people with mental health problems.”

The Artist:

David Shillinglaw is an internationally respected and acclaimed artist, who uses his art to map his own complex thought processes. His art reveals insight into his mental processes and his drive to make sense of them. David wants to inspire others with his work and use it as a means to initiate discussion about important, but often avoided, topics.

The Cause:

With every purchase, at least 15% of profits will be donated to Mind, helping them to continue their vital work in supporting the one in four people who live with a mental health problem each year.

Mind, the mental health charity, provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. They won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect. www.mind.org.uk
