Calum McClure: Good Nature and Generations of Colour

This autumn, Bridgeman Studio Artist Calum McClure will showcase his works in several exhibitions in England and Wales.

The Good Nature exhibition, hosted at Candida Stevens Gallery’s, is a major annual group exhibition based with over 30 highly regarded artists, including Bridgeman Copyright artists’ Eileen Cooper RA and Stephen Farthing RA. This year the theme is the natural world.

Curator, Candida Stevens says “I have chosen to bring together these artists, writers and designers to concentrate our thoughts around the planet at a moment when its beauty and fragility are deeply affected by our treatment and explorations of it. I want to see how artists and thinkers will respond to this important theme. The show is curated to be a thoughtful and probing look at us and our place in the natural environment.  I hope too that it will create positive reactions from those who come to see the work and want to make changes for the long term conservation of our world “

McClure’s second exhibition of the autumn season is  Generations of Colour , a joint exhibition of work with his late grandfather, David McClure RSA RSW.Hosted at the Tatha Gallery in Newport, this is the first major exhibition of their works together. Whilst the two artists have different artistic styles, both are known for their use of bold, strong colour. Calum’s works are often landscape-based, and use natural colours, whereas his grandfather’s works include still life, interior, figures and family portraits.
